Scope:  New Construction         Location:  Russells Point, Ohio Year Completed:  2026

After the original statue and shrine were destroyed in a tornado in the spring of 2024, Freytag and Associates, Inc. worked with the American Society of Ephesus (AES) to reimagine what the new shrine could become. Through inspiration from entries in a design competition, a new stone structure resembling Mary’s House in Ephesus, Turkey was developed to become the base for the new 20-foot statue of Mary. With the help of Jaccyn Design Group, the site was developed into a formal walk surrounding a welcoming plaza. The existing landscape flanking the site was enhanced by the refurbished stations of the cross, new plantings, and site lighting.
