In 2009, Bellefontaine City Schools selected Freytag & Associates, Inc. to design two new buildings serving grades K-2 and grades 6-8. The middle school houses grades 6-8 and is a three-story 87,983 square foot building. This building contains twenty classrooms, six project labs, three computer labs, a library media center, a visual arts area, a consumer science classroom/laboratory, a vocal music room, an instrumental music room, and a gymnasium. The structure features extended learning areas (ELAs) shared by the classrooms in each academic wing, which adjoin an integrated outdoor natural learning space that provides natural light to the ELAs.
