In 2009, Bellefontaine City Schools selected Freytag & Associates, Inc. for the design of two new buildings serving grades K-2 and grades 6-8. The elementary school houses grades K-2 and is a two-story 82,095 square foot building. This building contains ten classrooms for each grade level, six special education spaces, a computer lab, a library media center, an art room, a general music room, an instrumental music room, and a gymnasium. The structure features extended learning areas (ELAs) shared by the classrooms in each academic wing, which adjoin an integrated outdoor natural learning space that provides natural light to the ELAs.
