The 20,298 square foot facility was designed for the Auglaize County Public District Library System in 1966. The basement and first floor each provide 9,750 square feet of space and an attached bookmobile garage adds an additional 798 square feet. The building includes spacious stack and reading areas for children and adults. The basement houses the restrooms, a special collections room, a story hour room and the staff lounge in addition to stack/storage area. The librarian’s office and a workroom are housed on the main floor in addition to the main reading room and stacks. An additional office and other revisions were made in the original workroom area in the 1980 renovations. In 1991, an elevator was added to the facility and renovations were made in the restrooms to make the facility ADA compliant.
